Starting Weight: 460
Today's Weight: 452.6
Weight Change: -7.4 pounds
I decided to do a low-carb eating plan and for the first two weeks I subscribed to the Atkins plan for induction which limits me to eating 20 grams of net carbs a day. So I ate and ate and ate bacon, eggs, rotisserie chicken and steak to get me through the week. So much, I was concerned that I was going to put weight on with all the food I ate. Well I was please at a peach that I was down...and a pretty good loss at that. Seeing that scale this morning was some great motivation to not give up. The plan now, it too start incorporating less fatty meats into my diet. Bacon and steak will be on the menu from time to time...not every day. Once I am past the first two week, I'll be adding more carbs (thought fruits and veggies) to my diet.
The other component has been exercise. Since skipping the first two days of the year, I have put in at least 30 minutes a days for the past 6 days.

Go Lions!!!
Big football weekend ahead. My beloved Detroit Lions are in the playoffs for the first time this century. We play the Saints Saturday night and I for one, will be glued to the TV set. Here is the view that the Lions saw when they arrived in New Orleans...
Hopefully we are as ready for them as they are for us....
The rest of this weekend is all about cleaning (and playoff football). It seems like Christmas got the best of our house as well as our bodies. Usually, we start getting all the girls old toys out of the way to make room for the new toys that Santa brings. This year, we overlooked this somewhat major task and now our house runneth over with toys. Most will be donated or stored, the rest get trashed.
On the diet front, I have been low-carbing since the beginning of 2012 and I think I made it past the dreaded carb withdrawal stage. There were a few days earlier this week where I might have cut off a couple fingers for a beer or some Swedish Fish. But I made it though and I am happy to say the cravings are gone. So much that last night I took a sip of diet soda and it tasted so sweet I could have swore it was regular.
I also checked my pee last night (with strips...not by taste) and I am currently am in Ketosis which means my body is burning stored fat for energy instead of sugars found in carbohydrates (I think). Hopefully, I will see the results on the scale. This Sunday will be one week and I am going to start cutting back on the fattier and start implementing leaner cuts of meat and more veggies into my diet.

I Gave Up...Then I Didn't
Earlier this morning I clicked the "delete blog" link in the blogger setting. Good bye, adios, sayonara for good. Fortunately, there is a "undelete blog" link as well.
I am going to be honest...I don't like failing and I don't like talking about my failures even more. Kind of ironic since I fail so much. But that is going to change. 2012 is not only going to be a year of less failures...but when I do, I am going to take on the chin and keep going.
First off...Happy New Year... 2011 has had it's ups and downs and frankly...I am glad it is over. I have a lot of plans for 2012 which span from losing weight to developing an award winning beer recipe. Hopefully, I can accomplish them all.
The holidays gave me a swift kick in my belly. I ate and ate and ate with the knowledge that in the new year I would "right the ship." That outlook on life has got to change. This thing has got to be constant.
